How to Record Your Family History Research Accurately, Concisely and Consistently.
We are pleased to announce our upcoming workshop, How to Record Your Family History Research Accurately, Concisely and Consistently. This session is designed to help you improve your research notes and resolve common record-keeping issues faced by family historians. The workshop will cover three key areas:
1. Accuracy: Learn how to transcribe names, dates, places and text correctly, using verifiable official primary sources.
2. Conciseness: Learn how to summarise complex family information clearly by identifying the most important genealogical details.
3. Consistency: Learn how to standardise dates, names, places and files so your records remain organised and easy to use.
The workshop will also provide practical advice on managing digital files and physical documents, helping you build a comprehensive and enduring family history record.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced researcher, join us to learn, connect and share your knowledge with others.
Bookings are essential and open from 1 July 2026, either via email to Cape Banks FHS or at our Research Rooms. Please book early, as places are limited to 16 participants.
